Will the iPad 2 be unveiled next week?
Apple’s iPad 2 may be getting officially unveiled at a special Apple event next week, according to the latest rumours.
Mac Notes quotes sources in the iPad accessories business as saying that Apple is planning an event for iOS4.3 developers and will showcase the iPad 2 at it.
The same sources reportedly claim the iPad 2 will have an Apple A5 processor, a speaker grill on the back, Mini DisplayPort and will look similar to the iPad Touch 4G.
It’s previously been predicted that the next generation iPad will be unveiled at an event on February 9, due to a screenshot of an iPad calendar app with that date marked in it.
While it had been thought the screenshot may be a joke since Apple pulled the same trick with the release of the original iPad last year, it now seems there may be some truth to the rumour.
Reuters claims it got a look at a prototype of the iPad 2 at the launch of The Daily – it says the device had a front-facing camera.
It’s thought the iPad 2 may be released between April 2 and April 9 with production on it reportedly starting this month and being ‘significantly’ increased from April onwards.
