Google Android Ice Cream leak
Google’s Android 3.0 operating system has not been launched yet but leaks and rumours are already starting to circulate about its successor – Ice Cream.
Technology website Phandroid says a “trusted source” has revealed that Google is working on some new code called GRI that will bring some of Honeycombs features to smartphones.
GRI 17 is Google Android Ice Cream, according to Phandroid. If so it’s likely to become Google Android 3.1 or 3.2.
It’s not known what features smartphones will be getting – better graphics and 3D imaging, Near Field Communication (NFC) support, cloud-computing and improved notifications.
Google Ice Cream is unlikely to be released before the summer as Google has said that it wants to stagger Android updates to allow developers and users to keep up with changes.
However, Google will be unlikely to hold off its release beyond that as it will not want to be left behind once Apple release iOS4.3 and the iPhone 5 running on it.
