Asus follow up Lamborghini branded PC with external hard drive at laptopshop.co.uk

Following the release of the Asus Lamborghini netbook comes Asus’ latest supercar-themed product; the Lamborghini external hard drive.

This latest collaboration between PC-makers, Asus and car manufacturers, Lamborghini is a 2.5-inch drive, available in 500GB and 750GB capacities.

Asus have also decided not to misquote Henry Ford regarding the colour options; offering the device in both white and black finishes.

The design of the Lamborghini external hard drive is meant to mirror that of the supercar itself; all sleek lines and strong, sophisticated bodywork. In fact, the device is reminiscent of a scaled down version of the bonnet of the Lamborghini Countach – the ruggedly iconic 1980s Lambo, just before the Diablo came along and smoothed everything out.

Currently, it comes with 5400rpm drives and a USB 2.0 slot; this is expected to be upgraded to USB 3.0 on later models. Asus also hinted that the upgraded product would feature 7200rpm drives.

Included in the bundle is a software backup program, known as FlexSave. Asus – who also developed Flexsave – claim that this “offers a user-friendly” interface for easy backups and file management.”

Asus have yet to announce a European release date for the hard drive, but with introductory models retailing at $120 stateside, you can expect Asus to carry the Lamborghini theme over to the price when they land over here.
