The tablet is available for an initial £99 fee on mobile network, Three; however the user will then have to sign up for a two-year contract at £25 per month, with a monthly data limit of 15 GB.

The N700 sports a 7-inch capacitive touch screen with 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Additional features include a rear-facing, 3 megapixel camera with auto-focus, USB 2.0, Micro SD expansion, Bluetooth 2.1, stereo loudspeakers, microphone and 802.11 b/g wireless LAN. There is also an – admittedly, slightly less impressive – 0.3 megapixel secondary camera.

The device’s Qualcomm MSM7227 processor clocks in at 600MHz and supports Google’s Android 2.2 operating system. The N700 comes complete with 512 megabytes of RAM.

Potential buyers might be put off by the lack of Android Honeycomb and the relatively low pixel resolution, but the fact is there are no cheaper tablet devices out there. For those unable – or simply unwilling – to shell out big bucks for the Samsung Galaxy or the iPad, this could be right up your street. Plus, Android 2.2 – the Froyo version of the OS – is still able to support Flash video through the web browser.
