NOOKcolor pulled
The NOOKcolor e-reader has been pulled from shop shelves and retail websites – with reasons including that a hack-proof version is on the way.
Other sources claim its manufacturer Barnes & Noble (B&N) want to ship the tablet with Google Android 2.2 pre-installed.
B&N’s website says the LCD tablet will not be in stock for up to two weeks but can be “back ordered”.
Rumours that B&N want to make the NOOKcolor hack-proof follows the release of unofficial Android firmware being released that allows it to work as an Android Honeycomb tablet but breaks the warranty and may damage the device, according to Good eReader.
There’s been no official word on the decision to stop sales of the NOOKcolor yet but B&N is expected to release a statement soon.
