Acer 3D monitor set for UK launch in mid-March, costing £420
Acer has revealed details of its up-coming 3D monitor, the catchily-titled GN245HQ, and is to make it available in the UK for an initial price of £419.99.
Supporting Nvidia’s HDMI 3D technology, the display is designed to offer “enhanced home entertainment” and Acer is describing it as the “first 3D monitor in the world”.
A range of media players can be linked-up to the device, including your set-top box or blu-ray player, as well as your desktop computer via a DVI-DL.
The screen is to come along with some advanced active shutter 3D glasses from Nvidia and should make watching films, playing games or looking at your own 3D photographs a more immersive and generally more impressive experience. Only UK release dates and prices have been set so far.
“Offering powerful and exciting graphics as well as top-notch technology, the GN245HQ 3D monitor is particularly well suited for gaming and enjoying movies: the perfect solution for tech-savvy users and gaming enthusiasts,” a statement from Acer on the subject maintained.
No less glowing in its praise for the GN245HQ’s design features, Acer describes it as having “a futuristic style with clean, severe lines and sharply angled surfaces underlining its strong character”.
Acer is among the largest suppliers of laptops, desktops and netbooks in the world and its links with Nvidia will soon extent into the realm of tablet PCs, with the chip-maker set to have its Tegra 2 technology installed in the company’s first generation slates.
