Toshiba have announced that its new NB range of netbooks will be crammed with multimedia features.

The NB550D will be equipped with top quality Harman/Kardon speakers and Dolby Advanced Audio. Its 10.1 inch widescreen will also be HD capable.

It is features like these that Toshiba hope will ignite the interest of today’s tech-savvy media consumers. Toshiba say the range is “designed for people who enjoy listening to music, watching videos and web surfing on the go.”

The HDMI connectivity offered by the NB range means that users will be able stream movies and video clips directly to a HD TV screen, which is handy for those who prefer watching films on a slightly larger screen. This feature marks Toshiba’s first foray into convergent devices.

In addition to this, the NB550D packs an AMD-C50 processor and Radeon HD graphics card, making the machine a top notch device for gaming as well as for film and television viewing.

The “sleep-and-music” function allows the device conserve battery power by playing music when shut down, giving users the chance to get the very best out of those H/K speakers.
