NoteSlate /NoteSlate

Forget the HP PalmPad and iPad 2 and get back to basics with the NoteSlate, a bargain tablet that works pretty much like a digital pen and paper.

The US$99 (£63) slate, which is around the size of a sheet of A4, is designed to look like a white piece of paper with black pen ink on it or a blackboard slate with chalk on it.

Users write with a stylus that is provided with it and use three buttons to save a screen, look at saved screens or delete a screen. There’s also the capability to email notes or drawings.

There’s also a USB port, SD Card slot and headphone jack on the slim device that is just 6mm thick.

The NoteSlate’s e-Ink monochrome display has a 750 x 1080 pixel resolution and it boasts 180 hours of battery life.

It runs on basic firmware meant for writing and drawing but an update will be available in the future, allowing users to view pdf files. It’s also reported that a multi-colour model is on the way.

The device is due out in June 2011.
