HP PalmPad rumours latest: Cloud storage, premium audio and more
More rumours are surfacing about the HP WebOS tablets the PalmPad Topaz and Opal – with claims they’ll be multi-functional, support cloud storage and boast premium audio.
HP is yet to confirm any of the speculation, however it’s expected the tablets and their specs will be officially announced at an event on February 9.
In the meantime, tech blog Engadget has been busy quoting a source who claims the PalmPads will have access to cloud storage, which will make “tens of gigabytes” of storage available to customers. It’s not known if customers will need to pay extra for access to this facility.
The same source reportedly said that HP’s Beats audio processing platform will power “premium audio”. It had previously been used on HP Envy laptops.
And Engadget says another source gave it a survey allegedly commissioned by HP to see if people are interested in various features including a Touchstone-like wireless dock, “Tap-to-Share” functionality, Flash support, multitasking and using the tablet for calls. While, the survey says it is merely gauging interest, it added that it shows what the tablets may be capable of.
The wireless dock feature will charge the tablet and turn it into an alarm clock, digital photo frame or GPS unit.
“Tap-to-Share” will allow customers to share content between the tablets and phone by tapping them together.
Laptopshop.co.uk listed the following rumoured specs for the Topaz and Opal earlier this week. These included predictions that the Topaz would be a nine-inch tablet and the Opal would be a seven-inch tablet; both would be without a home button but with a micro-USB port and 1.2GHz processor.
