HTC’s Flyer tablet will be available in Q1 of 2011
Sources close to HTC claim that their Flyer tablet will hit shelves “before April”, after being officially launched at next week’s Mobile World Congress.
Rumour has it. that the release of the device will be “within a month” of its unveiling at Barcelona’s MVC event next week, with the Taiwanese tech firm teaming up with component manufacturers, Pegatron – also based on the island nation – to get the product out to stockists double quick.
The 7-inch tab will boast the same 1024 x 600 resolution capacitive display as the one modelled by Samsung’s Galaxy Tab earlier this year.
The Flyer will also run Google’s Android 3.0 – or Honeycomb – operating system and is rumoured to be the first of a triptych of tablet devices coming our way from HTC this year.
A Qualcomm Snapdragon MSMM8255 chip will provide processing power to the device, which also features a 5 mega pixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, a 1.3 mega pixel webcam, a re-tweaked version of HTC sense and an HDMI output.
While the Flyer will be released with 4G connectivity in the US, providing a headache to any British consumers interested in owning one of the devices, HTC have confirmed that the tablet will be 3G compatible when it lands in British stores.
